Central Division Foes Always Tough

Well the Sox took it on the chin last night against the mighty Royals of Kansas City, but not without a fight at the end of the game. The Sox down by six runs, came back with five in the ninth, only to fall short and losing not only the game but the series.

The American League Central division may not be the toughest in baseball, but it’s tough to beat the teams in that division if you are also in it. The last three seasons have come down to the last day and even an extra game sometimes being played to find out the winner.

The Twins beat the Tigers yesterday afternoon and the Sox lost to the Royals, leaving these three teams (Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota) in a race here on July 1st. It’s funny because K.C. has Detroit’s and Chicago’s number, and the White Sox are something like 2-7 against the Cleveland Indians this year. Maybe we should do inter league games more often?

As a Sox fan, I’ve must of seen more games against K.C. Detroit, and Cleveland than any other teams in my life. Remember the Larry Gura-Ken Kravec matchup of 1977. How about the Sutcliffe-Dotson game of 1983 or more recently the Moehler-Baldwin game of 2001. Of course, I am being funny here, but the teams and division have really come a long way since I was a young dude. But seriously, these teams all have good players, except for maybe Cleveland this year, and you can always throw out the stats when they meet up.

GO SOX!

Let’s hope the Indians don’t start a winning streak
