2011 Playoffs & ALDS Game Ones
Sep 30, 2011 Baseball
If the end of the season dictates anything for these 2011 playoff games we’re in for a treat.
My Chicago White Sox really fizzled out in September but not without some drama with Ozzie Guillen and Kenny Williams. The Detroit Tigers kicked their ass on Labor Day weekend, and that was that. Only 5 months until Arizona Cactus League for me folks, should be an exciting spring.
Now onto the present day. The New York Yankees get the pleasure to host Detroit tonight for the prime time game. Maybe the Yankees should be a little nervous facing Justin Verlander in game one, I know I would be. Verlander has been just spectacular this year and I don’t see anything different coming out of his hand this post season. I think Detroit has the edge in this series and wins one in New York and two in Motown to take the Yankees in 4 games. I love the line up the Tigers have and they may be the only team that has a better one through nine or at least equal to New York. The Tigers pitching is much improved from last season and manager Jim Leyland has a great closer in Valverde. Watch out Mariano Riverea, these Tigers claw back and bite hard.
The early game for the ALDS is a rematch of last years Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers on TBS. I know the Rangers have bragging rights but this year Tampa Bay has the fight to keep them in the game. After Longoria homered the Rays into the playoffs, I think Tampa has the magic to keep it going into the ALCS against Detroit. It’s going to be a tough game one though, especially with Tampa putting Matt Moore on the mound in Arlington this afternoon. Look for the Rays to rebound and win the series in 5 games.
My hopeful winner of the World Series this year would be Detroit followed by Milwaukee, Arizona and Texas.
The NLDS is on tap for tomorrow. Enjoy tonight first folks.
