Cliff Lee looked more like Bruce Lee last night in Game #1 of the World Series in New York. The Phillies starter struck out 10 pitched a complete game, and made plays behind his back in the field. The New York Yankees looked more like the
Mets in this one, with Nick Swisher leading the charge, looking at strike threes all night long. Give it up to Phillies second baseman Chase Utley who hit two homers against Sabathia, the first lefty to do so against a left hander on the mound since Babe Ruth did it in 1928.
The Yankees were just plain idle during the game as Philadelphia came out swinging and running on the battery of Sabathia and Posada. In the last six years, the team that has won game one, went on tho win the series. Let’s see what A.J. Burnett has up his sleeve tonight. New York knows they have a must win situation here this evening with games three, four, and five in Philadelphia. Could the Yankees now be feeling the pressure that most of their opponents have felt all year long?
Look for Pedro Martinez to bring his veteran experience against the A.L. Champions tonight on the mound for Philly. But watch the Yankees win this game with some big hits from Alex Rodriguez and Mark Texiera.
Today’s Game Of The Day is Game #2 of the World Series on FOX.
