2010 World Series

Game 3 goes to the hometown Texas Rangers. This series is looking like a good one now that the American League team has narrowed the gap to 1 game in this best of seven series. Colby lewis was real good through seven innings, letting up just two runs in a 4-2 victory Saturday night. Mitch Moreland provided some fireworks with a big home run off Jonathon Sanchez early on to set the pace. Hamilton got a homer in the fifth and that sealed the deal. Even Juan Uribe couldn’t help the Giants cause going 0-4 with a bad looking strikeout to end the game.

The thing I love about this series is that we are getting a look at some players most people don’t even know about. You don’t have Derek Jeter, you have a Mitch Moreland. You can’t count on Roy Halladay, but Colby Lewis shows he’s got just as good stuff on the ball. You have a bearded wonder by the name of Brian Wilson, instead of Mariano Rivera. That’s what makes this series so interesting. Less big paid, big name dudes, and more everyday players working collectively as a team. Give me this kind of baseball any day, in fact tonight on FOX.

2010 World Series Game #2

Talk about the game that got away, it got far away late in the game with horrible pitching on the Texas side. Nolan Ryan is saying that he might start game #3 and is getting the old #34 Ranger jersey out of the closet.

Matt Cain looked awesome last night, as good as any Giant pitcher this post season, and he didn’t smoke any weed either before taking the mound. Juan Uribe again defies the odds and makes great plays in the field and actually watched some pitches.

It’s going to take some baseballs to go over the fence in Arlington for the Rangers to come back in this series. They are down 2-0 now and have to win 4 of the next 5 games, which is possible, but not without some clutch hits.

No game tonight, which might be good for Texas so they can get their heads together.

2010 World Series Game 1

Is Juan Uribe man or machine? The Giants third basemen once again came up big on the field and in the batter’s box. After making some stellar plays at third, Uribe hit a 3 run blast in the 5th inning to vault the San Francisco Giants to victory in game 1 of the World Series. Tim Lincecum wasn’t at his finest, but Cliff Lee wasn’t even close to being good last night.

The pitchers on both sides seemed to be a little nervous on the mound as both failed to keep their heads in the game. I think that Lee got together with little Timmy to smoke some of that weed Lincecum is famous for these days. I think they smoked it next to Vladimer Guerrero’s locker because the DH who played right field last night lost his bearings on how to catch a baseball.

Texas was starting to hit the ball late in the game, but it was too late. I think if they can carry over their hitting game into tonight, they can beat the Giants in game two. But they are also going to have to field the ball better, they were bad last night.

Look for a pitcher’s game tonight with Texas getting one back on FOX.

WORLD SERIES 2010

A Cactus League Matchup in the World Series. Both the San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers play in Arizona for spring training, and now will face each other in the Fall Classic. The folks in Dallas and San Francisco share their excitement with the snow birds of Scottsdale and Surprise Arizona who have seen these teams play each other over the last several spring training seasons in the sunshine of the southwest.

Throw all the stats out the window on this one, and look for magical moments for this all new World Series beginning tomorrow night in San Francisco. There have been a lot of years combined since any of these teams have won the big one. Texas is here for the first time in history, and the Giants haven’t won since they were in New York a half century ago.

Juan Uribe has had some major plays made in the field, and his clutch hitting has been as good as anyone this post season. He and teammate Aaron Rowand had both played for the 2005 champion White Sox, and have a good idea how to come up big in the moment. The Rangers have Vladimer Guerrero who has a ring with the 2002 Angels and provided key hits against the Yankees in the ALCS this year. But in the the series, its going to come down to pitching with both clubs having excellent staffs at the right time of the year. Lee and Lincecum are both big time aces and have brought their clubs this far and I can’t see either of them letting up.

I see this series going into November for sure, with a game 7 of greatness from one of the clubs, I don’t know which one though. My heart says Giants. I was a little league coach this summer for the Giants, and I left my heart in San Francisco.

Today both teams are practicing and getting ready to face each other tomorrow night on FOX. Get ready here they come.

LCS 2010

Sorry I’ve been off a few days, I was put on the bereavement list due to a family emergency. However, what a series its been on both sides of the league.

Let’s start with the Mighty Texas Rangers and New York Yankees. Yesterday afternoon the Yankees won game 5, but now take it back to Texas in hopes to win 3 in a row to comeback and win it. They got so lucky in game 1 to come back and win that one, they should be out of it, but of course the magic of New York and its Yankees are still grabbing on to the end of the rope. Sabathia got his win, but now its up to the other pitchers to do their part. Nick Swisher had an incredible day at the plate, probably his best post season game ever. Let’s see what action Joe Girardi will take with his club on Friday night. We know he’s not going to manage the Cubs anytime soon.

Now let’s talk about the Giants. They had a tremendous game from all their players yesterday against the Phillies. Former White Sox player Aaron Rowand made a big throw from center field to get out a go ahead run at home plate, and Juan Uribe was inserted at shortstop late in the game to make an incredible play and threw it to first base to get a crucial out in the ninth inning. Uribe didn’t stop there either. His last at bat of the game drove in the winning run in a walk off sacrifice fly
and was greeted by his teammates in a huge celebration. Uribe got to the plate, and who was he facing? I’ll tell you, Roy Oswalt who was put into the game as a reliever in the ninth. Uribe faced him before when the White Sox knocked him off the mound early in the 2005 World Series when Oswalt played for Houston and Juan was with the White Sox.

Tonight’s game is huge. The Giants look to win at home and go onto the World Series, but Philly and Roy Halladay may have other thoughts. Look for a great game tonight and a celebration in the city by the bay. Giants will win 4-3.

Tonight’s game is on FOX. Happy baseball watching.

LDS 2010 Game 1 and 2

Let’s start with Texas. Too bad they didn’t hold on to game 1, because they could’ve been up 2 games on the Yankees heading into tomorrow’s game 3 in New York. The Texas faithful stood on their feet almost the whole game, and they watched their Rangers smash New York back to the Big Apple.

Texas kept hitting the ball long, and to right field all day long as they kept the Yankees at bay most of the day to win their first ever home playoff game. Now they they have Cliff Lee ready to go for the next one in New York, where they have to take at least one game to stay awake in the series.

Game 3 is on Monday in the Bronx on TBS.

Game 1 of the NLCS was fantastic. Lincecum was good enough to hold the Phillies in their own park even against Roy Halladay. Cody Ross was the player of the game after he belted 2 homers in the biggest game of his life against Halladay. The Giants seem to be the scruffy team that Boston may have been in 2004. They have the beards, the hair, and the care free attitude that may just give them an extra boost to vault them to the dance next week. They seems to be a sense of calm in their dugout, but that could change tonight if they don’t stay on task. How about that Juan Uribe? Here’s a guy with 24 home runs and 85 RBI’s this season, and still takes his game to higher level in the post season. He doesn’t have a great swing, but his defense and clutch hitting is getting him by just fine this post season.

Don’t expect a Giant win tonight, as Philly has to win to keep their spirits high as their town was in 1776. Look for Philly to bounce back tonight and tie the series up.

The game is on FOX at tonight. Enjoy your Sunday and GO Bears!

LCS 2010

Damn Yankees!

Texas’ bullpen blew it! They had the Yankees by the balls last night being up 5-0, then the bullpen really blew it all to pieces losing the game for the Rangers 6-5. You don’t get many chances to beat C.C. Sabathia, and they almost did. It’s going to take a win this afternoon for Texas to stay close in this series before heading to New York on Monday.

The ALDS is on TBS this afternoon.

The game of the year is tonight! Philadelphia is ready to host the San Francisco Giants with the best pitching match up of the playoffs. The Phillies have Mr. Roy Halladay going up against young hipster Tim Lincecum. We hope Tim left his weed bag at home and is ready to stay on top of the mound to face the 2 time in a row NL Pennant winning champs. Tonight’s game has all the drama a post season can ask for. I see Rocky Balboa taking lumps from Apollo Creed, and the Giants pull out a late victory.

The NLDS is on FOX tonight at 7:00.

“Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don’t care if I ever get back. Let’s root, root, root for the home team, if they don’t win its a shame, and there’s one, two, three strikes your out, at the old ball game.”

2010 ALCS GAME 1

The Stars Will Fight, Big Series Tonight, Deep In The Heart Of Texas.

For the first time in history, the Rangers won a playoff series and are poised to take on the Mighty Yankees from New York for a chance to get the top spot in the American League. No Cliff Lee this game for Texas, so you better swing the bats against C.C. Sabathia if you want to get a chance to score some runs. Josh Hamilton and his Rangers are going to have the biggest battle of their careers tonight in Arlington, especially since they haven’t won a playoff game at home. The trick is going to be the task of stopping the Yankees bats and experience. Ron Washington has his team running and creating havoc on the base paths against their opponents, so the Rangers also have to get on base to make some magic happen.

Joe Girardi and his New York team are defending their title, and have the gusto to do so. Seeing is believing though, and I think Texas has a good chance in a 7 game series against them. What a wonderful world series it would be if America could watch two new teams this year in the fall classic.

The big story is Alex Rodriguez going back to the place that he wanted out of so bad because they weren’t competitive. That’s because they had no money left after they signed him. A-Rod got out of there and went to New York and lived his moment last year. Let’s hope this Texas team can now come in and sting him.

My heart says Texas, my brain says New York. Look for the Yankees winning the series in 6 games.

All ALCS games our on TBS this year, so happy baseball watching. We’ll cover the NLCS tomorrow.

Here’s to the wine, here’s to the glass, and here’s to the girl with a wide flat ass. Sorry Cameron Diaz.

The Day-Off Before The LCS

Here’s what your LCS players have been up to on their day-offs before the next series starts:

Juan Uribe and Pablo Sandoval took in the sites of Philly yesterday on their day-off and went to see the Liberty Bell. Said Uribe, “this city is dirtier than any Latin city I’ve ever been to”.

Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain played some catch before going out to get a Philly steak sandwich. After his first bite, Tim pulled out a long hair from between the buns, and said “what is this”. Matt Cain judged the long strand and held it up to Tim’s head and said “dude there’s no girls working here, this is your hair.”

A-Rod arrived off the plane in Dallas to a group of kids waiting for him. A-Rod thought that it was a nice gesture that these kids must remember him from his playing days in Texas and probably wanted autographs. As he stuck his head into the crowd of little ones with his pen in hand, he was showered by spit and insults. He felt like he was still in New York.

Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter went to see a movie yesterday.
It was the new one starring Hillary Swank. Jeter told Rivera that he once slept with her, and Mariano said “they should call he Hillary Skank.”

Jorge Posada was in Texas earlier today and was roughed up by Border Patrol officials who thought that he was an illegal. Posada told them he was a Yankee, and the Texas Agent said with an accent “you don’t look like no yankee to me, now get back over there to Juarez”. Posada may not start game one, as they’re still looking for him.

ALDS Texas-Tampa Game #5

What a game folks. Great pitching on both sides until the sixth inning, but after all said the Texas Rangers wanted it more. Cliff Lee was dominating all game long as he struck out batter after batter with great curve balls and with just overall tenacity on the mound in Tampa Bay’s dome.

When two good teams play each other, its hard to win three games in a row, even against bad teams. This series had the visiting club winning all games, so much for home field advantage. Personally I think that if Tampa doesn’t have the support of its fans throughout the season, why should they even be upset about the outcome. I’m sure somewhere in the land of alligators and oranges someone is saying ” I told you so.” I am so happy the Rangers of the American League have a chance to get to the dance, but they’ll have to get by the security guards called The New York Yankees. Very tough task, but not impossible.

The ALCS starts up Friday Night on TBS, who will carry the series, while the National League starts up on Saturday Night on FOX. Texas has home field advantage, if you call it that, as do the Philadelphia Phillies.

Day off tonight from baseball, I think I’ll listen to some Johnny Cash, what about you?
