2010 World Series-Game #5
Nov 2, 2010 Baseball
The long haired, weed smoking kid on the mound in game #5 last night had it all going on. He was seriously stoning the Texas Rangers to the point they just gave in. The Rangers didn’t want to get back on a plane to California, and the Giants weren’t flying back to the bay area without the trophy.
For the first time in 56 years, the San Francisco Giants won professional sports’ biggest achievement, and brought the trophy to San Francisco where they moved to from New York in 1958. I think of all the Giants of the past like a Bobby Bonds, Jeff Kent, and Will Clark who had given their guts with no glory. The biggest thing about this is that Barry Bonds didn’t get to be on this team. It was all Bonds, no team, when he played with them, and this 2010 group was a team.
Huff, Uribe and Tim Lincecum were all clutch in the series and could of all received the MVP award. But Renteria was just huge in the last couple games, just as he had been with Florida 13 years earlier. Every team has a hero, and he returned to the form when he was a young national league killer, good for him and his team the San Francisco Giants.
There is going to a one huge party in the streets tomorrow in the city by the bay, and the only thing missing would probably be Jerry Garcia riding on top of the Furthur Bus smoking a fat one with the freak.
See you around Scottsdale in March.
2010 World Series-Game #4
Nov 1, 2010 Baseball
The fat lady is getting ready to sing her song, but the Rangers are trying to stuff her back into a suitcase bound for San Francisco, but they have to win game #5 tonight in Texas.
What happened to the hitting on the Texas ball club? They are looking like the White Sox, with no clutch bats or timely base running. On Halloween evening in Texas last night, there were two guys dressed like former Presidents, and former pitcher dressed like the president of the Rangers, and all three weren’t able to help Tommy Hunter stop the train marked San Francisco. Renteria looks like he stepped back a half a decade and found his old self. Madison Baumgartner pitched the biggest game of his life, and looked like Nolan Ryan, striking out Rangers like a bowling ball hitting the pins straight on.
The Giants are now up 3 games to 1 and are about to pull off their first World Series victory since their jerseys said New York on them. Texas is going to have to win three in a row starting with Cliff Lee on the mound tonight against Tim Lincecum, which can be done with a little help from the bats of Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz. If Lee can bounce back from his poor game one outing, the Rangers have a good chance to go back to the bay and win two.
Here’s hoping the Rangers win tonight and extend this baseball season to at least November 3rd. The game is on FOX tonight at 7:00PM. Let’s root, root, root for the home team.
