Hello again everybody, what a beautiful night for a ball game. It’s just me, your know it all friend Dick Ourada sharing my thoughts on this years playoffs.
Although my White Sox are done for the year, finishing with 88 wins, I always enjoy the playoffs and hope that this year’s games are as good as last year. I have three teams that I am rooting for, and they are all Cactus League teams. The Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants, which of course The Giants being my pick to click. I would love to see San Francisco get their first ever World Series Trophy in that town after all these years. I imagine there might even be some New Yorkers rooting for the Giants instead of the Bronx Bombers. By the way as I write this, Texas has taken a 2-0 lead in game one of the ALDS against Tampa Bay.
New York plays the mighty Minnesota Twins and should easily take the series and go onto face Texas, who also have never won a World Series game, let alone a playoff series that I can remember. The Giants will say farewell to Bobby Cox and his Atlanta Braves along with his managing career, and Philadelphia will unfortunately beat Dusty’s Reds team.
What does the fall classic have in store for you the baseball fan? Well number one is definitely that this years World Series will go into November. Number two, there will be some great stories that will go into baseball folklore like Schilling’s bloody sock, or Reggie’s three homer game. Number three some very sad fans in New York as they watch the Texas Rangers go onto playing the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. These are my early predictions, which means that the Yankees will beat Philadelphia again and Joe Girardi retires as manager of New York, and returns to set the ship straight with the Cubs next season. Keep dreaming north- siders.
Happy Baseball watching, and were only 140 days from spring training.
