The Life and times of Dick Ourada

NLDS & ALDS 2010

Well there you go folks. I spoke about something going down in baseball history in yesterday’s blog, but I didn’t expect it to happen last night.

Congratulations to Roy Halladay of the Phillies for pitching the 2nd ever post season no-hitter in history. It could of only happened to Dusty Baker’s Cincinnati Reds, who looked awful on both sides of the field in a white toweled waving ballpark.

Halladay was marvelous on the mound and was in command of all his pitches, making the Reds confused, and swinging at everything he threw up there. Don Larson would of been proud. The Phillies should take this series in 4 games.

Now the Minnesota fans are feeling the wrath of the New York Yankees. They were well ahead of their first playoff opponent until New York figured out Liriano and started the comeback in fine fashion. Tonight will be Carl Pavano’s mustache miracle as he sets out to show New York who he really is. The veterans on the Yankees think they have a sharp razor to shave off some of his fastballs. You could hear a pin drop in Target Field last night when the pin stripers took the lead and Francisco Liriano exited to the dugout. Look for a Twins win tonight evening up the series 1-1, but lose it all in the Bronx this weekend.

Texas is too strong, and I think they win game 2 in Tampa Bay also. Tampa has the pitching, but Texas has the bats. I think in this series the bats beat the pitching.

The late night game on TBS will be Atlanta at San Francisco with the long haired Tom Lincecum taking the rock for the Giants. This will be a hell of a match up with Atlanta’s Derek Lowe hoping to strike out Juan Uribe and Aaron Rowand and setting up a 1-0 win over the Braves.

It’s exciting baseball. and if anybody tells you different, they are wrong. Enjoy the cracker jack!
