The Life and times of Dick Ourada

NLDS Friday 10-8-10

Well. well. well…. It seems that I was 2 for 3 yesterday with my picks. I was wrong with Twins taking one against the Yankees in Minnesota, but I’ll be right by saying Minnesota has played their last game at home this year. I was right with Texas having the bats to beat Tampa Bay yet again at the Rays home park, that series will be going to Texas Saturday.
My pick to click was San Francisco beating Atlanta 1-0 last night and I was right on the money. Tim Lincecum was so dominating with his 14 strike outs setting a Giant post season record for most K’s in a game. Derek Lowe was awesome too, but his team couldn’t hit anything last night.

There are two games this evening on TBS with the Phillies leading it off against the beaten down Cincinnati Reds and Bronson Arroyo. I am thinking rebound for the Reds tonight after Halladay left them on death’s door Wednesday evening.
I think that if Cincinnati sees another Roy on the mound they may be able to pound out some hits. This Roy’s last name is Oswalt, and if I’m correct his post season against The Chicago White Sox in 2005 didn’t go to well. Here’s to Dusty Baker finding a way to even things up before heading back home to Ohio.

Matt Cain is able to throw the rock. The late game on TBS is his Giants facing off in Game 2 against the Atlanta Braves who snuck into the post season and lost game 1. Bobby Cox is throwing his guys under the bus if he thinks the big bats are going to come alive instead of trying to play some national league baseball by looking at some pitches, bunting and stealing some bags. Last night was impossible after Lincecum ate up the Brave’s at the plate, but with a game gone in this series, its a must win for the Braves. My pick to click tonight is San Francisco still beating Atlanta and the score I see in my head is 5-2.

The way things are going in LDS makes me feel like I’m watching the Indy 500. They are rolling on by quick, and could be over with by the end of this Holiday Weekend.

Watch the games on TBS tonight and enjoy some beer and peanuts. Doesn’t Dennis Eckersley look exactly the same now as he did on his baseball cards in the 1970’s?
