Those of you from Philadelphia have forgot all about losing the Stanley Cup a few months ago. Last night their Eagles beat the 49ers in football, and their Phillies swept the Cincinnati Reds to advance for the third time in a row to the NLDS. I would hate to face them if I were Atlanta or San Francisco, due to the fact that the Phillies’ ERA in this series was 1.00. If the Phillies win the National League pennant, it would be the first time a National league team did it three times in a row since the 1942-1944 with the Cardinals.
The Yankees swept the Twins. No comment.
The team to face the Yankees in the ALDS will be determined tomorrow when Tampa Bay goes home to the dome to see if they can complete a 3 game comeback against the Rangers. Tampa has fought back with spectacular pitching away from their home, but Texas won both game 1 and 2 in Tampa, so its going to be a great match up on Tuesday.
Today’s game between San Francisco and Atlanta is going to be a gem. San Francisco and Aubrey Huff really had a hell of a time in yesterday’s see-saw battle in Atlanta, with the Giants coming out on top in the ninth inning and deflating the tomahawk chop. San Francisco is in command with a 2-1 lead now and is in the driver’s seat. Look for another 1-0 game tonight in Atlanta, but I’m not predicting a winner in tonight’s game.
Happy baseball watching.
