ALDS and NLDS Update

MLB screwed up the Tigers-Yankees game last night. Why would you start a game with the biggest pitching match-up in baseball by playing a game that was a for sure rain out. They knew it was going to pour down in the Bronx last night and they screwed the fans and teams out of what could of been the best game of the year after calling it after one inning due to rain. Now it will resume after one inning tonight. This will always be a “remember the first game of the series” after thought. Go Tigers.
Tampa surprised me early in the evening by beating the brains out of Texas in Arlington to take game 1 of the ALDS. Matt Moore looked more like Bret Saberhagen in 1985 as he allowed only 2 hits with the Rays going up one game to zero. C.J. Wilson must of felt like a home run derby pitcher as Tampa just fed off his spoon all night. Game two is today with Holland taking the hill for Texas and Shields for the Rays. If the visiting Tampa Bay Rays win today its most likely over for the defending AL champs.
The NLDS starts today also with the Brewers facing the Diamondbacks of Arizona. Ian Kennedy will have a tough task facing one of the most productive teams in the Chicago suburb of Milwaukee. I like both of these teams, but I believe the Brew Crew wins this one in 5 games. Gallardo takes the rock for Milwaukee and he’s been almost as good as Greinke. If he pulls this off, look out Diamondbacks!
Does St. Louis have the toughness to beat Philadelphia? Probably not, but don’t tell Tony LaRussa that. His Cardinals are on a mission and so far so good. Roy Halladay is pitching for the Phillies and its going to take more than Albert Pujols to beat him. I like the Phillies in the series but hope they get beat by St. Louis, wishful thinking.
It is going to be baseball all day with 4 games scheduled. So forget college football, forget your kids soccer games, and settle on in and enjoy October. Isn’t this fall month all about the game we love so much anyways. Happy T.V. watching to you all. Don’t forget the beer.
