Division Playoffs

Saturday’s super playoffs were just that, super! It’s amazing how intense baseball can get in October, and how much fun they are to watch.

Game one of the Yankees and Tigers series in finally over after a rain soaked Friday suspended the game and the Verlander-Sabathia matchup. Well on Saturday’s continuation Tiger’s pitcher Doug Fister and the Yankees Ivan Nova didn’t disappoint. Both were fantastic through the first several innings, but Nova was better. Nova had some help later in the game with a grand slam hit by Robinson Cano, and then the Yankees bats came to life. Oh well, let’s see what the Tigers can do today, with having to get a must win in New York before taking it back to Detroit.

The Phillies looked like they were going to be on the losing end with Roy Halladay pitching after Lance Berkman took him deep with a three run blast early. Halladay settled in, and so did Ryan Howard as the Phillies came back big and wiped the Cardinals out. Game #2 is today in the city of brotherly love.

Texas beat the Tampa Bay Rays last night, but not without a little bit of nerves toward the end. After being far ahead late in the game, the Rangers started to give it all back to the Rays, but they held on and tied up the series 1-1. Is Tampa’s magic starting to wear thin?

A beautiful day in Milwaukee turned into a rocking night, as the Brewers lead by Prince Fielder’s 3 run bomb beat Arizona. The game was pretty close, but the Diamondbacks just couldn’t hold down the powerful first baseman as he launched one into right field to put Milwaukee up for good. Game two today should be awesome. The Brewers have Greinke on the mound who has been unstoppable at Miller Park. Arizona is going to have to find a way to cool the Brewers bats so Bernie Brewer doesn’t go sliding down his slide, and Arizona doesn’t go sliding out of the 2011 playoffs.

Leave the NFL alone today and watch baseball, there is plenty of time to watch football when the snowflakes are falling.
