Talk about intense! Talk about close games! Talk about the Detroit Tigers!
In the Bronx last night, the silence was deafening by the New York crowd, and the strikeout on A-Rod by Papa Grande to end the season for the Yankees was a loud and proud moment for Jim Leyland’s team. There were so many chances for New York to get back into that game and all were stopped by the great Detroit pitching. You have to hand it to Valverde who closed out yet another gem against the highest payroll in the game. Now Detroit puts on their spurs and head to Texas to play the Rangers for the AL Pennant starting tomorrow evening. Sorry New York but you may want to start spreading the news on the bottom of the bird cage.
Today’s matchups in the two Game #5’s for the NLDS will dictate who travels where for the NLCS.
The Phillies are back home with their ace Roy Halladay on the mound to face off against Carpenter for the Cardinals. Let’s
face it, Phiily has the edge, but Tony Larussa’s Cardinal team have been on the money these last couple of games. I can’t say that I want Philadelphia to win, but they have the edge in this game with Halladay. The Cardinals must get off to an early lead to shut down Halladay who gets tougher as the game goes on into the later innings.
This afternoon’s contest between The Diamondbacks and Brewers in Milwaukee’s Miller Park is up in the air. Will the roof be open or closed?
Will Prince Fielder eat pizza before the game? I don’t have the answer for either right now, but I do want to see a good game #5 with some crowd noise and Miller beer being consumed amoung the Wisconsin faithful . The Brewers have been waitng a long time for a game like this, and Arizona will not just just go quietly. It’s going to take Gallardo to throw the game of his life for the Brewers, against Ian Kennedy for Arizona. The Diamonbacks were seen last night by the “bronze Fonz” statue taking pictures along side of it. Let’s see if Laverne and Shirley show up with a case of Shotz Beer in the parking lot before the game.
I love game #5’s and so should you. Baseball fever, catch it!
