The Tigers have their backs against the wall after Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers hit a couple balls over it yesterday in Arlington. Cruz, who hit a solo shot and and a grand slam to end the contest with a walk off, celebrated after being hit hard by a pitch in his previous at bat. Texas brings out Colby Lewis against the Tiger’s Doug Fister tonight in Comerica Park in Detroit to try to take a 3-0 series lead in the ALCS. Jim Leyland isn’t going to feel sorry for his team, he just knows that they need to win this game tonight to get back into it, or its pretty much over. The pitching last night was great for Detroit as they got out of a lot of jams with bases loaded. Max Scherzer was shakey at first, but settled down. The Texas Rangers who brought in Scott Feldman in the third inning for relief purposes was on his game, and Nelson Cruz was on the ball. Tigers have a must win scenario tonight on FOX.
The Cardinals have scored 18 runs in two days off of Brewer pitching and have evened up the series that heads back to St. Louis tomorrow. Chris Carpenter is going to be taking the hill in Busch Stadium and when he’s on, he’s good. We saw that with him in game #5 against the Phillies. Milwaukee is going to need a lot help from Gallardo who takes the rock for the first time in this series. If my cards line up right, St. Louis will win game #3 and probably the series. It would send them to the dance once again as a wild card team as they were in 2006 when they won it all. They are off today in the NLCS, but I heard the Brewers will be visiting the arch along the Mississippi River to view the city from the sky.
Happy baseball watching!
