The Life and times of Dick Ourada

10-11-12 ALDS & NLDS

I was laying in bed rubbing my wife’s back, and all of a sudden boom shakalaka, hey get your mind out of the gutter. It was Raul Ibanez who hit the game winning homer after a tying homer in the ninth. What is is with this guy? Isn’t he too old to be doing this? Check him for steroids! The Yankees do what they do best, win in October in grand fashion. Just when I thought the Orioles had a chance at knocking them out of contention and now its near impossible with two games left in the Bronx. Tonight’s matchup has Phil Hughes taking the mound for the Yankees against Baltimore’s Joe Saunders.

When I thought that has to be the best game of the day I was right. Because at the stroke of midnight in the central time zone, the Athletics pulled off a game winning hit against Detroit forcing a game #5 tonight. Two of the most hated guys in the game, Coco Crisp at the plate and Jose Valverde on the hill faced each other with Crisp getting the game winning hit and saving Stephen Drew from being the goat. Poor Valverde, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. I still think Detroit and Justin Verlander pull it off tonight and advance to the ALCS.

Where is Steven Strasburg when the Nationals need him the most? He’s off the playoff roster, nice move Washington. The Cardinals of St. Louis are finding themselves again in October baseball, and winning. The Nationals are at the end of their rope if they can’t beat Lohse today. Why is it that St. Louis who lost Pujols over the off season can do it again when it counts? Its because of their young manager who learned the game behind the plate and behind Tony LaRussa’s ass. They are dismantling the Nationals inning by inning with strong hitting and fielding. Look for St. Louis to pull it off again today and advance.

The mighty Giants of San Francisco have climbed back from the depths of destruction. It was Kung Fu Panda and The Freak all over again yesterday. Dusty Baker almost had to go back to the ER for tests after the game. As Zito was lifted early for the Giants, and Angel Pagan was hitting away, Tim Lincecum took the mound and shut down the Cincinnati offense. Game #5 is today and Matt Cain takes the mound against Latos from Cincinnati. This time Cain gets his win and the Reds go home for the season.

I love this game!
