The Life and times of Dick Ourada

10-14-12 ALCS & NLCS

As I sat in the man cave last night with a nervous Tiger fan friend of mine he was so happy in the ninth inning as his Tigers had a 4 run lead with Valverde coming in to shut the the door on the Yankees. Of course he blew it, giving up a 2 run shot to Ichiro and then again of course to the new Mr. October Raul Ibanez who tied it up to force extra innings. My friend went from being so happy to distraught. As the innings were going by and the arms on the clock were turning close to midnight, we were preparing the guest room so he could just sleep over if this game went too much longer. Then all of sudden his mood changed. Squiggy Cabrera was on second base and Delmon Young got another big hit in the game and drove him in. Young wound up scoring too in the inning, as the Tigers went up 6-4 and held on for dear life to win Game #1 in New York. Derek Jeter wound up fracturing his ankle in that last inning and is out for the season. How lucky for the Detroit Tigers, how crappy for the Yankees. The Yankees are looking for a special game today with Kuroda on the mound versus Tiger pitcher Sanchez. The Yankees have to win this one as the series shifts to Motown for game #3 on Tuesaday night.

Tonight we also will get to watch game #1 of the NLCS with Lance Lynn taking the mound for the lucky Cardinals against Madison Bumgarner for San Francisco by the bay. I like the Giants in the series, because like the Tigers in the American League, San Francisco has the arms.

Watch the early football games, and then tune in for the two baseball games afterward. Its going to be a cavalcade of sports watching this Sunday!
