I often wonder what the players do on a day off. There are no playoff games today, so I wonder what the boys of summer are up to? Here are some guesses:
Nick Swisher: Probably is at a local supermarket buying a six
pack of shaving cream and paper plates.
Alex Rodriguez: Is probably in bed with Kate Hudson at an
upscale Manhattan hotel talking about his
religious beliefs, and making love.
Kendry Morales: Is taking in a movie with teammate Chone
Figgens in New York. What kind of movie
they’re seeing is up to your imagination.
John Lackey: Is darning his socks in the middle of the night.
Jimmy Rollins: Is showing his family Universal Studios.
Rafael Furcal : Took batting practice early, so he could hang
with buddy Tom Arnold over at the La Brea
Tar Pits.
Bobby Abreu and Tori Hunter: Find themselves still driving
through Kearney Nebraska looking for NYC.
Manager Joe Torre: Is spending the day in Hermosa Beach
with his wife and kids shopping for
a new Mercedes and surf board.
Derek Jeter: Found time to visit with an old friend in the
Bronx. The friend happens to be Yogi Berra.
Derek was convinced by Yogi to buy some Aflac
supplemental insurance at a local barber shop.
Ryan Howard: Went swimming in the Pacific Ocean and caught
two fish in his nose. I think they were blowfish.
No matter what these over priced babies are doing, they are doing it in October together. The rest of the MLB players are at home or on vacation. In the case of Cub Manager Lou and White Sox skipper Ozzie, I think they are together on a beach in Florida somewhere saying “this beats dealing with the press”. Oh and saying ” GO ANGELS”.
