The Life and times of Dick Ourada

ALCS and World Series

For an inning or two, I thought to myself that the Angels will pull this out. But a miserable 4th inning by pitcher Joe Saunders brought life back to the city that never sleeps. The Yankees are going to the dance, and hosting the first two games of the World Series against Philadelphia. Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia will face off against one another on Wednesday.

Angel manager Mike Scioscia had a great run this year just to fall two wins short of taking his team to the show. Let’s face it, the last few miles were the toughest against an opponent such as New York. A-Rod, Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Texiera, Pettitte, and Damon isn’t like playing the Oakland Athletics. But with their bright future and speed, expect them to easily be the favorite in the AL west next season. See you Tempe.

As for the mighty Yankees, their road goes through the defending champions of last year in the Philadelphia Phillies, who look to be the first team to repeat since the 99′ 2000 Yankee team.

If all signs of the playoffs are correct, this should be an awesome World Series. I think even at the beginning of the season there were a lot of folks who thought this would be the World Series. Both teams are strong in all facets of the game down to the coaching staff. Joe Girardi, former Yankee catcher has a chance to be a champion as a manager, too bad the Cubs offered Lou the job when Girardi was there for the taking.

Monday and Tuesday are off days. Both teams will anticipate what’s ahead of them. Philadelphia has had some rest, which doesn’t always work. It’s probably better that New York has been in game mode all year.

My pick is the Yankees in 6 games. But my heart wants Philly to beat the beast in the east. GO PHILADELPHIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
